Child Theme Guide
Xmedcar is 100% child theme compatible. A basic child theme package xmedcar-child.zip is included inside your ThemeForest download package. If you plan to make custom code changes, edit CSS styles, or override template files, we highly recommend using the child theme!
1) What is a Child Theme & Why Use It?
A Child Theme is a WordPress theme that inherits all features, styling, templates, and functions of its parent theme (Xmedcar). It allows you to modify or add custom functionality safely.
Important: Never modify core files directly inside the main xmedcar theme directory. When the parent theme is updated to a new version, any modified files inside xmedcar/ will be overwritten and lost. By making edits inside the xmedcar-child theme directory, your custom modifications remain safe and untouched during theme updates.
2) Installing & Activating Child Theme:
-
Ensure Parent Theme is Installed:
Make sure the mainxmedcarparent theme is already installed on your site under Appearance => Themes. -
Locate xmedcar-child.zip:
Extract your ThemeForest All files & documentation package on your computer and locate the xmedcar-child.zip file. -
Upload Child Theme in WordPress Admin:
Go to Appearance => Themes => Add New => Upload Theme in your WordPress Dashboard. -
Choose File & Install:

3) How to Customize Using the Child Theme
-
Adding Custom CSS Styling:
Add custom CSS rules directly insidewp-content/themes/xmedcar-child/style.css. -
Adding Custom PHP Functions:
Add custom WordPress action hooks, filters, and PHP functions directly insidewp-content/themes/xmedcar-child/functions.php. -
Overriding Parent Template Files:
To modify any template file (e.g.,header.php,footer.php, or WooCommerce template files), copy the file from the parent theme folderxmedcar/into the exact same folder path insidexmedcar-child/and edit it there safely.
Speed Optimization Guide
Optimizing your online pharmacy website for fast load times is essential for delivering a seamless customer experience, improving Google SEO rankings, and increasing WooCommerce conversion rates.
Part 1: Key Factors That Affect Website Speed
-
Active Plugins:
Running too many plugins increases server processing overhead. Deactivate and remove any unused plugins. To test plugin speed impacts, temporarily deactivate non-essential plugins one by one and check load speeds. -
Unoptimized Images:
High-resolution, uncompressed image uploads are the #1 cause of slow page rendering. Always scale images to their actual display dimensions and compress them before uploading to WordPress. -
Hosting Infrastructure:
Shared hosting with limited CPU/RAM or low PHP memory limits slows down database queries. Upgrade to high-performance SSD/NVMe WordPress hosting with PHP 8.1+ support. -
CSS & JavaScript Assets:
Multiple un-minified CSS and JS files increase total HTTP network requests. Minifying and combining asset files reduces total payload size.
Part 2: Speed Optimization Guide:
Step 1: Optimize & Compress All Images
Before uploading product photos or banner images to WordPress, compress them using online tools such as TinyPNG or CompressJPEG. Aim to keep image file sizes under 200 KB without sacrificing visual quality.
Step 2: Add GZIP Compression & Browser Caching to .htaccess
If your website runs on an Apache web server, open the .htaccess file in your WordPress root directory and paste the following GZIP compression, browser caching, and HTTP header rules at the end of the file:
AddType application/x-font-woff .woff
AddType application/font-woff2 .woff2

Part 3: Configuring Recommended Caching Plugins
We recommend using one of the following caching plugins to automate minification and page caching:
Option 1: WP Rocket (Premium & Highly Recommended)
- Install and activate the WP Rocket plugin.
-
Enable Minify CSS / JS, Combine Files, and LazyLoad settings.

- If using Slider Revolution, review WP Rocket Slider Revolution Exclusions to exclude slider JS files from deferred loading.
Option 2: Autoptimize (Free Minification)
- Install and activate the free Autoptimize plugin.
-
Go to Settings => Autoptimize, enable Optimize JavaScript Code and Optimize CSS Code, then save.

Option 3: WP Super Cache (Free Caching)
- Install and activate the free WP Super Cache plugin.
- Go to Settings => WP Super Cache and enable Caching On.
-
Crucial WooCommerce Exclusion: Ensure dynamic WooCommerce pages (Cart, Checkout, My Account, Wishlist) are added to the cache exclusion list to prevent cart session caching errors.

Log in to Envato:
Log in to your ThemeForest / Envato Market account. -
Go to Downloads:
Hover over your username in the top-right corner of the screen and select Downloads. -
Download Certificate:

Copy Code:
Open the downloaded file and copy the alphanumeric code listed under the Item Purchase Code field.
For more detailed information, please refer to the Envato Help Guide: Where Is My Purchase Code?
2. Theme is missing the style.css stylesheet error
This is a common upload issue caused by uploading the complete package file instead of the installable theme file. Resolve it by following these steps:
-
Go to Envato Downloads:
Visit your ThemeForest Downloads page. -
Download Theme File Only:
Click the Download button next to Xmedcar and select Installable WordPress file only. This downloads a clean xmedcar.zip. -
Install Clean Zip:
Go to your WordPress admin panel under Appearance => Themes => Add New => Upload Theme, select the newly downloaded xmedcar.zip file, and click Install Now.
3. "Are you sure you want to do this?" (or Link Expired / Upload Fail)
This warning displays during theme installations if you uploaded the full theme package or if your hosting server's maximum file size limit is set too low. Resolve this by applying either of the methods below:
-
Check File Type:
Ensure you are uploading only the installable xmedcar.zip file, and not the full package zip file. -
Method A: Install via FTP Client (Recommended):
Unzip the installable xmedcar.zip file on your computer. Log in to your hosting server via FTP, navigate to/wp-content/themes/, and upload the extractedxmedcarfolder. -
Method B: Increase Upload Limit:
Contact your hosting provider support team and request them to increase your server's PHP values forupload_max_filesizeandpost_max_sizeto at least 32MB or higher.
4. 500 Internal Server Error
This error is typically caused by insufficient hosting server resources. You can increase limits manually or request assistance from your hosting company:
-
Locate PHP Configuration:
Access your server root directory via FTP or File Manager and locate your activephp.ini,.htaccess, or.user.inifiles. -
Apply Resource Directives:
Add or edit the following PHP settings to match theme execution requirements: -
Contact Hosting Support:
If limits do not update or if you lack server write access, submit a ticket to your host support team asking them to increase these PHP configuration limits.
5. White Screen Of Death or PHP Error Notice
A blank white screen indicates a PHP error has occurred, but error displaying is turned off on your server. Follow these troubleshooting steps:
-
Open Configuration File:
Log in via FTP, locate thewp-config.phpfile in your WordPress root directory, and open it. -
Enable Debugging:
Locate the linedefine( 'WP_DEBUG', false );and change it todefine( 'WP_DEBUG', true );. Save the file. -
Analyze the Error:
Refresh the white screen. The site will now display the exact PHP error, including the file path and line number causing the issue (usually identifying an incompatible plugin). -
Temporarily Disable Plugin:
If the error identifies a plugin, rename that plugin's folder under/wp-content/plugins/via FTP to deactivate it and restore site access.

-
Go to Plugins Panel:
Navigate to Plugins => Installed Plugins. -
Deactivate Plugins:
Locate Slider Revolution and Xmedcar Extensions. Select them and click Deactivate. -
Delete Plugins:
Select both plugins again and click Delete. (Note: Deleting these plugins will NOT delete your sliders, custom blocks, or page content since data remains safe in the database). -

-
Create a Page:
